To provide cultural, culinary experiences to temple members and friends, the Midwest Buddhist Temple kitchen hosts a variety of hands-on cooking classes throughout the year. MBT members who have extensive culinary knowledge teach the classes.
In the past, these participatory classes have focused on knife skills, Japanese-style salad dressings, sushi, manju (Japanese sweet baked confection), okoshi (sweet puffed rice cakes), kanten (Japanese gelatin), Mexican cuisine and English tea.
Recipes and instructions are distributed for each class. And, of course, everyone gets to enjoy the delicious foods made in the class.
Fees for the classes, usually about $20, cover the cost of ingredients. If you are interested in attending one of these classes, see the MBT calendar or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 312.943.7801.
