How to get to the Midwest Buddhist Temple

By Car

(These directions are extremely helpful because the temple is surrounded by many one-way residential streets and, without them, it can be difficult to find your way to our parking lot, which is directly south of the temple.)

From Lake Shore Drive (east):

  1. Exit at North Avenue
  2. Drive west on North Avenue to Hudson Avenue (one block after the traffic light at Sedgwick Street)
  3. Turn right (north) on Hudson Avenue. At the end of the second block, you will enter the Midwest Buddhist Temple parking lot.

From the Kennedy Expressway/I-94 (west):

  1. Exit at North Avenue.
  2. Drive east on North Avenue (about 1.7 miles) to Sedgwick Street (traffic light).
  3. Turn left (north) on Sedgwick Street; go to Eugenie Street (first stop sign).
  4. Turn left (west) on Eugenie Street; go one block to Hudson Avenue (stop sign).
  5. Turn right (north) on Hudson Avenue. At the end of the second block, you will enter the Midwest Buddhist Temple parking lot.

By public transportation

(The nearest major intersection to the Midwest Buddhist Temple is Sedgwick and Menomonee Streets.)

From the CTA Brown Line

Take the Brown Line to the Sedgwick stop, exit North Avenue and Sedgwick Street. Walk north on Sedgwick two blocks to Menomonee Street. Turn left; in one block, the temple entrance will be to your left.

From the CTA Red Line

Take the Red Line to the Fullerton stop; transfer to the Brown Line and go south toward downtown. Get off at the Sedgwick stop, exit North Avenue and Sedgwick. Walk north on Sedgwick two blocks to Menomonee Street. Turn left; in one block, the temple entrance will be to your left.

From CTA bus lines

CTA bus lines that run near the Midwest Buddhist Temple include: No. 22 Clark, No. 36 Broadway, No. 151 Sheridan, No. 72 North Avenue, No. 11 Sedgwick Street.

The bus stop closest to the temple is at Sedgwick and Menomonee Streets. From this stop, walk one block west; the temple entrance will be to your left.
