Become a Temple Member

For those who would like to become a member of Midwest Buddhist Temple* or support the temple financially as a Friend, we have the following official categories:

General Member

Membership to Midwest Buddhist Temple is open to all (regardless of color, race or sexual orientation) who uphold its principles and purpose: To promote and spread the teachings of Buddha’s truth, ensure the general welfare of the Buddhist faith and uphold Buddhist beliefs.

Financial pledge or donations are welcomed and encouraged but not required for General Member status.

Voting Member

Each General Member of 16 years of age or older who pledges financial contributions equal to or exceeding the annual minimum as set by the MBT Board of Trustees will be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the membership.

The current minimum pledge amount for Voting Member status is $300 per individual ($600 per couple).

Friend

Those who would like to support MBT financially but do not wish to become temple members will be accorded Friend status with a donation of $50 or more in a calendar year. Friend status provides temple mailings such as the Midwest Buddhist Temple Bulletin, the temple’s newsletter, and invitations to temple activities.
